instagram

I love instagram. I mean, LOVE.  I'm not sure there's another app I use more than that little bugger.  I love looking through my iphone camera roll and then plopping those suckers into instagram.

Here are some favs!

So, now that we have all these great photos on our iphone, how can we make them tangible memories?  My friends from Jenna Walker Photography have it all figured out.  Their new business, Artifact Uprising, allows you to upload instagram friendly pictures to some very lovely books.

So go on. Get on over there and get those pictures off your phone and onto a book worth being on display.

Beer Cocktails

Are you following the Backyard Bartender?  You should be.  I'm going to make this delicious cocktail very soon.  Note to self: must buy fancy striped straws.

Redneck Mother
1 oz Rio Star ruby red grapefruit juice (fresh-squeezed!)
.75 oz sloe gin (Get the Plymoth, if you can. It's a bit hard to find, but completely worth it. If you can't hunt down the Plymoth, use a bit less, as other brands tend to be sweeter.)
Lone Star beer
Ginger beer

Add the sloe gin and grapefruit juice to the bottom of a pint glass (or mason jar). Fill the remaining portion of the jar halfway with Lone Star and top with ginger beer. Cheers.

One Year!

My hubby and I just passed our one year anniversary.  We celebrated by heading back to the magical Devil's Thumb Ranch.

As I enjoyed our superb weekend full of delicious food, relaxing massages, a brisk hike, and a much needed nap, I began to think about how glorious a day it was and how blessed we were to have so many friends and family members with us.  And then I reminded myself that all of that is secondary to these words.  These words made the day.

I Geoff, take you Jen to be my wife.
my partner in life and my one true love.
I will cherish our union and love you more each day than I did the day before.
I will trust you and respect you,
laugh with you and cry with you,
loving you faithfully through good times and bad.
I give you my hand, my heart, and my love,
from this day forward for as long as we both shall live.

Geoff today I become your wife and you become my husband.
I will strive to give you the best of myself, and accept you the way you are.
I promise to respect you as a whole person
with your own interests, desires, and needs,
and to realize that those are sometimes different, but no less important than my own.
I promise to keep myself open to you,
to let you in to my innermost fears, feelings and dreams,
I promise to grow along with you,
to be willing to face change as we both change.
I promise to love you in good times and in bad,
with all that I am and all that I have to give.

Logos

I saw this article entitled "What if corporate logos were honest?" on www.flavorwire.com.  I just had to share.
"What if logos were honest?  That’s the question posed by Viktor Hertz, a Swedish graphic design freelancer and student, in his fantastic series Honest Logos.  “Some are cheap, some might be a bit funny, some will maybe be brilliant,” Hugo explains. :

charlie & linus

Charlie Brown: I guess you were right, Linus. I shouldn't have picked this little tree. Everything I do turns into a disaster. I guess I really don't know what Christmas is all about.
[shouting in desperation
Charlie Brown: Isn't there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?
Linus Van Pelt: Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you what Christmas is all about.
[moves toward the center of the stage
Linus Van Pelt: Lights, please.
[a spotlight shines on Linus]
Linus Van Pelt: "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'"
[Linus picks up his blanket and walks back towards Charlie Brown]
Linus Van Pelt: That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.
